Bali has always been a safe bet for inclusion in listicles about travel. Recently, the Island of Gods has also been named as the dream destination for anyone who wants to spend their retirement in peace.

Travel consultant International Living recently announced the best locations in Asia for retirees and placed Bali as one of the top destinations.

To be precise, Bali ranked fourth on the list with a Global Retirement Index (GRI) score of 69 points.

Thailand placed first with 72.9 GRI points, followed by Cambodia with 72.3 and Malaysia with 72.

Bali ranked ahead of Sri Lanka (68.9 points) and Vietnam (68.3 points).

International Living based their rankings on the 2022 GRI, which weighed several indicators including living costs, visa requirements, entertainment places, healthcare, infrastructure, climate, government, living benefits, and weather.

Obviously, not all of Bali is peaceful enough for retirees (looking at you, Canggu). If you’re a retiree who’s after calm and serenity, consider Sanur, Nusa Dua, Jimbaran, and Ubud.
