East Java bank employee allegedly steals Rp 1 billion then flees to Bali for fun holiday

East Java Police have arrested a man accused of stealing around Rp 1 billion from the bank where he was working as an employee. 

Djarot, 48, a resident of Ploso, East Java allegedly stole about Rp 1 billion from the BRI branch where he was working in Nganjuk, East Java. 

Police investigator Pino said that Djarot was arrested after police started investigating reports of missing money last week on Tuesday, July 19, totaling Rp 1,180,000,000. 

“From the report, we conducted an investigation and the results led to the perpetrator. Furthermore, we tracked him. Because, he had apparently already fled,” Pino said on Monday, as quoted by Okezone

Police found that Djarot had run out to Bali. 

“We arrested him at a hotel on the island of Bali while having fun and spending the stolen money.”

Djarot has since been taken from Bali and is currently in Ngjajuk Police custody. 

Police confiscated the rest of the unused money from Djarot and are still investigating the case.
