A 78-year-old Dutch woman was reportedly found dead in a seated position in Kuta on Monday morning.
She was found by her 66-year-old sister at the hotel where they were staying, when the sister went in to ask about breakfast.
It seemed odd that her sister would be sleeping while sitting up, so she checked her. When she found her older sister not breathing, the woman called hotel staff for help, who then brought a doctor in.
“The doctor claimed that the victim was already dead. Security immediately contacted the general manager of the hotel,” Kuta Police Commissioner Wayan Semara told Tribun Bali.
The woman is believed to have died from complications of a preexisting condition.
But Semara said an autopsy will need to be done at Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital to confirm the cause of death.
