Dutch grocery heir faces 15 years prison for drug trafficking charges, package was mailed to him from Spain with 224 grams of cannabis

Bali Customs Officers intercepted a package containing marijuana back in January mailed to the heir of the Netherlands’ biggest supermarket chain.

Prosecutors charged Djai Heijn with 15 years in prison on May 2, apparently deciding not to push for the max punishment: the death penalty, reports the AAP.

Djai Heijn is now facing drug trafficking charges for the 224 grams of cannabis found in the package that was mailed to him from Spain. Officers additionally found 492 grams of crystal meth and 42 grams of the psychedelic drug dimethyltryptamine (DPT) when they arrested Heijn at his Bali home.

But Heijin denies any knowledge of the package and claims it was an unwanted Christmas present, the Netherlands Times newspaper has reported.

Heijn has been living in Bali since 2013. His family founded the leading Dutch supermarket chain and brand Ahold.
