Drug smuggling op from USA thwarted by Bali sniffer dogs

Customs at Ngurah Rai Airport in Bali was able to thwart a drug smuggling attempt earlier this week, but they actually have the dogs to thank.

Using a team of detection dogs, customs found a package containing marijuana and cocaine sent by parcel post from New York, reports VIVA News

Head of Customs at Ngurah Rai Budi Harjanto says the sniffer dogs rendered a great service in sniffing out the drugs that were bundled in a package containing a lamp.

After the dogs tipped customs off, they more thoroughly examined the package with X-ray, which helped them uncover the drugs.

The package reportedly had been received in Renon, Denpasar on April 8, 2015 and was marked with cryptic words: brinkman q-bean max million.

“There are three clear plastic packagings with 57 grams of marijuana and two clear plastic packagings that contain 7.2 grams of powder cocaine,” Harjanto told VIVA.

He also explained that the package used the code US EK-560 790 857 and was destined for someone with the initials KS, a foreigner who lives in the Jimbaran area of Bali.
