Denpasar residents left without running water due to disruption in tap water supply

Though the rain has been mercilessly leaving Denpasar’s streets clogged and flooded, the problem is actually a lack of water for many of the capital’s residents on the regional water supply (PDAM).

Supply has been disrupted from two of PDAM Denpasar’s water treatment plants as the water coming in is apparently extremely murky. PDAM is working on the system Feb. 7-10, according to an Info Denpasar post

It is related to all our rainstorms though—rivers have become very muddy after heavy rains, according to PDAM Denpasar Managing Director, IB Gede Arsana. Treatment facilities are not strong enough to clear such murky water and need several days maintenance. However, Arsana says water should already be flowing again for some residents as on Thursday.

Tanker trucks from PDAM Denpasar, PMI (Indonesian Red Cross), and BPBD (Regional Disaster Management Agency) carrying water have been circulating the city to assist water-less households, Arsana told Tribun Bali
