Denpasar to put up ‘Engeline’ monument as symbol against child abuse

With all the nasty accusations and theories going around over eight-year-old Engeline’s recent murder, at the very least, it’s nice to hear how her case is inspiring others to tackle the salient issue of child abuse.

The Denpasar City government in cooperation with NGOs concerned with child welfare has plans in the works to construct a monument for deceased Engeline.

The monument is designed to be a symbol of anti-violence against children, explained Artist Merdeka Sirait, Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection, as published by wowkeren.com

“And this step can also be followed by other cities or provinces in the country,” Sirait said.

Sirait also added that hopefully the groundbreaking for the monument can be before National Children’s Day, on July 23.
