Denpasar Police catches phone thief, not terrorist in security operation around Kuta nightclubs

Denpasar Police made an arrest in an operation to tighten security around popular tourist attractions, nightclubs, and other points of interest—but the arrested person was no terrorist.

During their nightclub security sweep that even involved sniffer dogs, police apprehended a man stealing cell phones from bule tourists.

Denpasar Police Chief Anak Agung Made Sudana says the perp was directly arrested when police caught him.

“The victims were Australian. Currently, the offender and victims are being taken to the office for further examination,” Sudana said on Sunday, as quoted by Okezone

“The target of this operation is find suspicious people who could do anything to jeopardize the security of Bali. That is our focus on this raid,” Sudana explained.

Certainly stealing phones is the minor leagues of crime compared to the terror threats police are looking to squash out, but at least they caught some crime in action.
