Denpasar hospital has received 20 bodies of abandoned babies since 2013

Unfortunately, the tragic story of the baby’s corpse being found in a Denpasar dumpster this week is not an isolated incident in Bali.

The forensics unit at Denpasar’s main hospital, Sanglah, has received a total of 20 bodies of babies and infants that were abandoned from 2013 to present, reports Tribun Bali.

Of that number, 17 were reportedly said to be accidentally aborted or killed, Head of Sanglah Forensics Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit told Tribun.

Even if the shame of having a baby out of wedlock may be unbearable in some communities, we would hope the guilt the would be strong enough to keep people from dumping babies.
