Residents of Jl. Pidada VI Banjar Sedana Merta in North Ubung, Denpasar woke up to a major shock on Wednesday morning.
The bloodied body of a woman was found under the bed in a guesthouse by an employee, Ismail, 35.
The woman has been identified in a Tribun Bali report as Ni Luh Tety Ramuna, 24.
According to Ismail, things had seemed suspicious when the alleged perpetrator, Komang Arim Sujana, 23, was seen pacing in the guesthouse’s courtyard.
“Because he saw the homestay guest acting suspiciously, the employee rebuked the guest, thinking he was going to run away from the hotel without paying for the room rental. After checking into the room on the second floor, he discovered the body,” Tribun Bali quoted an anonymous source as saying.
Guesthouse employees said the alleged perp, hailing from Kintamani, Bangli had been staying there since July 12, 2016.
“It was for more than a week that he stayed there. During his stay here, he rarely went out the of the room. The victim only just came last night in a Toyota Agya car,” an unnamed guesthouse employee told Tribun.
West Denpasar Police Chief Wisnu Wardana said the victim was strangled to death.
Police have closed off a crime scene and have already brought the alleged perp into West Denpasar Police custody, Wardana said.
