With the massive amount of stray dogs and even unvaccinated pet dogs wandering throughout the streets of Bali’s capital city, the municipal government is reportedly vaccinating hundreds of Denpasar doggies this week.
At least 900 pet and stray dogs were administered the rabies vaccine starting in Renon on Monday, reports Merdeka.
“On the first day of mass vaccination, there were 902 dogs successfully injected,” said Head of Animal Health for Denpasar city, Dr. Luh Suri Urpin, as quoted by Merdeka.
According to Urpin, this round of mass vaccinations will last until June 2015 and will target the entire Denpasar region, adding that the next stop on the vaccine tour would be Sanur.
Well, we definitely prefer these gentler treatments than culling methods that Bali has unfortunately become infamous for in its attempt to control the street dog population and contain rabies.
