A bank teller was found stabbed to death at her home in Denpasar on Monday, with police strongly suspecting that she was a victim of a violent robbery.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old NPW, is an employee of a state-owned bank in the Bali capital. She was found by her boyfriend, 28-year-old GHYS, who was informed that NPW hadn’t showed up for work.

GHYS promptly visited NPW at her home, only to find her covered with blood in her bed. She was only in her underwear when she was found.

Forensics from Denpasar’s Sanglah General Hospital found at least 32 stab wounds throughout NPW’s body, including on her neck, chest, back and an open wound on her right palm. They ruled severe blood loss as her cause of death.

Based on preliminary findings, the forensics team did not find any evidence of sexual assault.

The Denpasar City Police said that NPW was likely the victim of a fatal robbery, as her motorcycle was missing, along with bank notes from her wallet. Jansen Avitus Panjaitan, who heads the Denpasar City Police, said that authorities are still pursuing the suspect.
