A baby’s death is a reminder that it’s dengue fever season in Bali and we need to take every precaution we can like fogging and avoiding stagnant water.
The little eight-month-old that died on Jan. 16 is believed to have died from the sometimes fatal mosquito-transmitted disease.
“He was treated in Negara Public Hospital for five days and died. He had the symptoms of dengue fever, but I don’t have all the information from the doctors,” the baby’s grandfather, Nengah Suena told Antara.
Chief medical officer of Jembrana, Dr. Putu Suasta MKes says the regency is working on preventing the spread of dengue by fogging in vulnerable areas.
“We have been continuously fogging to eradicate the mosquitoes. We also ask for pubic participation to protect the environment, namely from puddles that may become breeding grounds for mosquitoes,” the doctor said.
