Deceased Australian surfer cremated in Bali

Australian Peter Surman was remembered in Bali by his close family with a cremation ceremony.

Surman passed away last week after losing consciousness while surfing in the Kuta area. He was rushed to BIMC, but reportedly died two hours later.

His service was quiet and understated, something that his kids said their father would have wanted.

Even though his father perished in Bali, his son doesn’t seem to have ill will against the island. “He loved everything about this country and he loved surfing more than anything and he passed away doing what he loved which was surfing in Bali,” son Corey told News Corporation.

“He would never want anyone to stop coming here … what he would want most of all for people to continue to come here and give their money to the Balinese people and support this country.”

Surman was cremated at Mumbul Crematorium in Nusa Dua, but his ashes will be returned to Australia.
