Dead body found in Jembrana, West Bali landfill

The corpse of an elderly man was pulled out of a landfill in Jembrana, Bali on Wednesday.

The dead man has been identified in local news reports as 80-year-old I Gusti Made Nandra, a resident of Tukadaya Village.

Nandra is believed to have died from some illness when he was searching for firewood.

“Based on the information of the family, the victim has long been ill, and is old and senile. He was previously forbidden to leave the house,” Jembrana Police Chief I Gusti Made Sudharma told Tribun Bali

But Nandra apparently lived alone and did not have a wife or children, so seems he could have easily left his house.

Nandra’s body was discovered by local resident Gusti Ketut Sulantra, 57.

Not far from Nandra’s body, a machete and knife were found, allegedly because he had been looking for firewood.

A medical exam found no signs of violence on Nandra’s body. His remains have been taken to a funeral home and are awaiting cremation.
