An Australian man in his late 70s invited a call girl to his room – only to realize later that she stole at least US$1,000 from him when he needed the money the most.

The South Denpasar Police Crime Unit Chief Made Putra Yudistira said that RA, 77, met DPW, 36, online on Oct. 11. After they agreed on an undisclosed price for sex, the Aussie invited DPW to his hotel in Sanur.

Afterwards, RA was in the shower when DPW allegedly stole IDR7 million (US$450) in cash from his luggage and AUD1,000 (US$649) from his closet. She immediately went to a money changer to exchange the dollar.

RA found out that his cash was gone when he needed some of it to pay for his visa extension. According to the authorities, the Australian dollars were stored in a plastic bag in the closet on the day it was stolen.

DPW was arrested on Monday after the authorities were tipped off that she frequents a cafe on Kutat Lestari Street in Sanur. When she was arrested, DPW only had IDR105,000 (US$6.75) left of RA’s money with her. Her son was reportedly with her at the time of the arrest.

DPW told the authorities that she used the money to pay off her mobile phone from a pawn shop and for hospital bills for both of her parents.

“The suspect has been detained at the South Denpasar Police headquarters,” Made added.

DPW may face up to five years behind bars for theft.
