A foreign national from the Czech Republic was deported from Indonesia over the weekend for alleged violation of Indonesia’s immigration laws, an official said today.

The foreigner, identified by her initials VZ, reportedly freelanced as a diving instructor in Karangasem, Bali.

“The concerned person conducted activities as a freelance diving instructor in Tulamben, Karangasem regency, which was not in accordance with her stay permit,” Jamaruli Manihuruk, Head of the Bali office for the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, said.

VZ was staying in Indonesia with a B211A Visit Visa, and Jamaruli said that by doing freelance work she had violated Indonesia’s 2011 Immigration Law. She headed to Jakarta on an evening flight last Saturday, with Prague as her final destination.

“We hope that with this administrative action from immigration it can set a real example of how we uphold immigration laws [in Indonesia],” Jamaruli said.
