A couple was arrested by Denpasar criminal investigators on Sunday for kidnapping a baby.
The couple was identified in a Tribun Bali report by their initials, LS, 29, and PB, 37. They were reportedly arrested at a boarding house on Jl. Pulau Moyo, Gang Blupin.
What reason could the couple possibly have for stealing someone else’s kid? They apparently took the baby girl because they couldn’t have a child of their own.
Chief of Denpasar Police’s criminal investigation unit Reinhard Nainggolan said that investigators tracked down the kidnappers after the baby’s parents reported her missing.
“Once we collected all the witnesses’ statements, including the baby’s parents, we were lead to the perpetrators,” Reinhard told Tribun.
Both kidnappers and the baby were then brought in by Denpasar Police.
“From initial examination, they claimed that they wanted to take care of the baby,” Nainggolan added.
However, the investigation is still ongoing.
The baby girl has thankfully been returned safely to her parents.
