A pair of farmers made a horrifying discovery Monday morning when they wanted to start their work for the day.
The Telaga, Gianyar, Bali farmers came upon two rotting infant corpses lying in a rice paddy ditch, reports Merdeka.
From results of a medical analysis at Denpasar’s Sanglah Hospital, the two male corpses appeared to be twins and had matching neck wounds—incisions from sharp objects, according to Merdeka.
“It is possible that these two babies were killed during childbirth. For fear of the shame in getting caught,. We are continuing the investigation. This is eliminating two lives at once,” Ubud Police Chief Wayan Sumara told Merdeka.
Sumara added that the medical examination revealed that the babies had been dumped three or four days before they were found.
Sumara says police combed the area where the babies were found, looking for possible suspects. He also mentioned (without formally accusing) that nearby the scene of the crime is housing for a vocational school and a number of students there did not go home to celebrate Nyepi with their family.
