In a devastating incident that unfolded at the Ibis Styles Bali Legian Hotel, a construction worker identified as Moh. Ridwan tragically fell from the second floor. The work-related accident happened yesterday at around noon.

Denpasar Police spokesman I Ketut Sukadi said that Ridwan was descending from the second floor when the mishap occurred. The 43-year-old laborer from Probolinggo, East Java was using a scaffold to make his way down.

Ridwan, 43, then stepped onto a board placed above the balcony railing. However, as he attempted to shift his weight onto the scaffold with his other foot, the stability of the board faltered. In a desperate attempt to save himself, Ridwan clung to the frail balcony board before he fell.

Despite immediate efforts to rush Ridwan to Siloam Hospital in a vehicle provided by the hotel, the medical team pronounced the victim dead upon arrival.

Sukadi, shedding light on the unfortunate incident, emphasized that Ridwan had taken proper safety precautions while carrying out his duties.

“However, as he prepared to take a break and descend, he had momentarily removed his safety gear,” Sukadi revealed, highlighting the crucial importance of maintaining safety measures consistently.

A hotel guest who was willing to speak with Coconuts Bali anonymously said that he and other guests observed during breakfast that day that none of the workers wore safety gear.

“He fell from the third floor [not second]. No one was wearing safety gear,” the guest said.
Coconuts Bali has reached out to the Ibis Styles Bali Legian Hotel’s management, who said they could not provide any statements as the case is being handled by the police.
