Coffee farmers in Tabanan aim to export 108 tons of coffee

Pupuan, a sub-district of Tabanan, has recently become a little bit of a hotspot for coffee production, Tribun Bali reported.

According to Pupuan coffee-farmer, I Wayan Dira, there has been more demand for coffee lately due to the beverage becoming more trendy in places such as Taiwan, China, and Japan (despite traditionally being tea-drinking people). Koreans are also reportedly becoming more of coffee-lovers. Dira told Tribun Bali that a fellow farmer is currently looking to export 108 tons of coffee to Korea.

Not exactly a small amount.

Dira continued, “There is currently a Korean buyer who requested six containers of robusta coffee, and each container is comprised of about 18 tons of coffee. The majority of the coffee we produce is robusta coffee”.

So naturally, Dira is having conversations with this farmer and co-ordinating with a bunch of other Tabanan farmers to fulfil this order.

Apparently Dira’s village have been working to perfect the quality of their coffee production for the last five years.

Through Tabanan local authorities, Dira himself has even been to Taiwan to compete in international coffee competitions and just to learn more about coffee.

And with that much of a coffee order to fulfil, it doesn’t look like this farmer is going to be slowing down anytime soon.
