Tourists from China are the most likely to violate their visas whilst in Bali, according to head of Ngurah Rai Immigration Class I, Yosep H A Renung Widodo.
These violators often come in the form of pre-wedding photographers and event organizers working on free tourist visas, says Widodo.
So far, in 2016, more than 50 Chinese citizens have reportedly been dealt with by Immigration for improperly using VOAs while in Indonesia.
But not all of those working on tourist visas are in events.
Widodo also cited cases of Chinese tourists illegally posing as tour guides and even monks.
Immigration, however, has been working on a crack down, according to Widodo.
“By forming a dedicated team to focus on vulnerabilities, mapping these offenses, we expect to capture tourists committing violations,” Widodo told Tribun Bali yesterday.
