A Chinese national, identified by her initials SZ, was allegedly sexually harassed by her jet ski instructor while on her holiday in Bali.
Police say SZ, 20, was harassed by her jet ski guide, who has been identified as 29-year-old Mohamad Toha, at the popular tourist beach destination of Tanjung Benoa, Nusa Dua, Badung regency.
The incident allegedly happened on Tuesday morning, when SZ, along with her mother and their group, had just concluded a tour in the area and wanted to try riding a jet ski. She got on one with Toha sitting behind her as her guide, and he took her far away from the beach on the vehicle.
“The victim was brought to the middle of the sea, then Toha sexually harassed her again because he knew there were not many people around them,” Denpasar Police Deputy Chief Benny Pramono told reporters at a press conference for the case on Thursday, as quoted by Detik.
Benny said SZ was harassed multiple times during the jet ski ride. According to him, Toha initially started his harassment by kissing SZ on the lips without her consent. When they were far away from everyone else, Toha hugged and groped her breasts before proceeding to force her to touch his genitals.
Soon after the ride, SZ reported the incident to the police. Toha was arrested and charged with sexual harassment under the Criminal Code (KUHP). If convicted, he could face up to nine years in prison.
