Iconic English comic actor Charlie Chaplin was in Bali (and Java) and 1932 and there’s an old school video—or film, to be precise—documenting the legend’s travels.
Black and white, with gamelan playing in the background, the video depicts Bali and Java as Chaplin saw them, with a blend of landscapes and people from his travels.
At just over 13 minutes, you don’t have to watch the whole thing to feel a bit nostalgic for a Bali long before our time, when old Hollywood peeps like Chaplin were wandering out and about.
