Cells of Bali 9 inmates cleared of ‘dangerous objects’

The prison cells of Bali Nine death row inmates Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran were reportedly swept for “dangerous objects.”

I Nyoman Putra Surya Admaja, the regional office corrections Bali division head for the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights says extra security measures are being taken to ensure that Australians Chan and Sukumaran remain away from objects deemed dangerous, reports Kompas

Admaja says if a hard object like a rock, for example, was near their cells, it would be confiscated. This will help prevent the inmates from taking undesirable actions, Admaja says.

Though Admaja admits Sukumaran and Chan do not have to be escorted by officers while in prison, he says the prison is keeping a close eye on them

Currently awaiting their executions, the pair is on death row for attempting to smuggle over eight kilograms of heroin out of Bali in 2005.

Their lawyers have not given up hope yet of getting their death sentences appealed
