The rains have been relentlessly flushing out Bali lately—which have unfortunately made for slippery, dangerous conditions.
A security guard reportedly slipped on Monday at the pool of the Echo Beach Villa where he was working, fatally hitting his head.
Based on information gathered at the scene by local newspaper Tribun Bali, 40-year-old Ignatius Hati had been coming from the second floor to the villa’s lobby at about 6:30 am. After getting water in the lobby, Hati was about to return to the second floor, when he fell at the edge of the pool.
Witnesses said blood was pouring out from his nose and ears after the fall.
“When the two witnesses helped, the victim was coughing blood out. Not long after, the victim’s life could not be saved. He died around 8:30 am,” a source told Tribun.
North Kuta Police Commissioner Hery Supriawa told reporters that Hati had been afflicted with a cough for the past four days, and it was coughing that made Hati lose his balance and slip.
Supriawa added that no signs of violence had been found on the victim following an external examination at Sanglah Hospital.
