Bus catches fire at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport

A bus caught on fire within Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport complex this afternoon. Thankfully, no casualties were reported from the incident. 

According to local media, the incident occurred at 1:25pm at the ground support equipment (GSE) area of the airport. It was promptly attended to by airport authorities, who managed to extinguish the fire at 1.40pm. 

A number of posts shared on social media showed black smoke rising from the scene. Even so, as reported by Detik, flight and terminal operations were not affected.

Awaluddin, corporate communication senior manager from state-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura I, was quoted as saying that an investigation into the incident is underway. 

“We are still waiting for the results of an investigation into what caused the fire,” Awaluddin said in a statement, according to Liputan 6.
