Horrific stuff.

I Nengah Paulus, who lives in a village in Tembuku, Bangli, was supervising tree logging in his field with his son and two neighbors yesterday when the 79-year-old was hit with a bullet in the face.

The victim suddenly whimpered in pain, clutching his face as blood was oozing out from below his eye.

Seeing blood on his face, Paulus’ son and neighbors immediately took him to the Bangli General Hospital for medical attention.

Tembuku Police Chief I Made Sucahya said that the witnesses reported a hole below one of Paulus’ eyes. Investigators were immediately dispatched to the scene for a close inspection, during which they found a discarded rifle.

“So far it is not yet known who shot the gun. The case is still being investigated,” Sucahya added.

Bangli Hospital spokesman Sang Kompyang Arie said separately that Paulus suffered a gunshot wound on his right cheek and would need surgery to repair the damage.
