Buleleng, North Bali is reportedly the area of the island with the highest maternal and infant mortality rates

Of the nine regencies in Bali, Buleleng up in the north, reportedly has the highest rate of maternal deaths. 

As of June 2015, there has been a tragic total of 29 reported cases of maternal mortality in Bali, with nine of them coming from Buleleng, according to Tribun Bali

For comparison, the newspaper printed the number of maternal death cases for each other regency: Badung 6 cases; Denpasar 5 cases; Karangasem 4 cases; Jembrana 2 cases; Klungkung 2 cases; and Bangli 1 case. 

While Tabanan and Gianyar apparently suffered zero maternal deaths this year. 

Other data reportedly listed 187 as the amount of infant mortality cases in Bali this year up til the month of  May. 

Buleleng also reportedly has the highest infant mortality rate in Bali, with 50 babies having died the first five months in 2015.
