Briton on 10,0000 mile charity walk treads through Bali on the way to Oz, final destination

Arjun Bhogal has been on one long walk. The British man has been on the move since April 2012—that’s a whopping four and a half years.

Bhogal came to Bali on Oct. 3 via Javanese city Surabaya, arriving in Gilmanuk and walking all the way down to Seminyak.

He’s passed through about 15 countries (maybe more) since starting in the UK. Indonesia, specifically Bali, was his last stop before heading to his final country along the way, Australia.

“It’s the 15th country I think I’ve been in. 15? 15. Uh, it might be 18,” Bhogal laughed, telling local newspaper Tribun Bali during a video interview.

Bhogal says walking a straight line from the UK to New South Wales, Australia would be 10,000 miles, so he’s probably tacked on even more mileage because his route hasn’t been dead on.

The Briton calls his journey the Borderwalk Project, that began with the aim of raising  £25,000 for the organizations, WaterAid and Marine Conservation Society.

Along the way, Bhogal says he’s had quite a few adventures and has managed quite well thanks to the kindness of strangers and friends of friends of friends helping him out of the way.

Though most notably, one of his biggest memories has to be getting thrown into a prison in Afghanistan.

“I had seven men with AK-47s run at me in Afghanistan and throw me into a four by four. But that’s not a good memory.”

Other than taking boat rides or flights to cross over bodies of water, Bhogal’s entire journey has been on foot.

Wishing him luck as he takes his final steps!
