British Prime Minister David Cameron kicked off his Southeast Asia trip today in Indonesia, with trade cooperation and ISIS on the agenda.

But those of us in Bali are wondering if he will have any luck influencing the fate of one of his country’s citizens who is sitting on death row in Bali for drug trafficking.

Lindsay Sandiford, 59, is locked up in Bali’s Kerobokan Prison and has been behind bars since 2012 after getting caught transporting GBP1.6 million of drugs from Thailand to Bali.

As BBC and AFP have pointed out, there could be some tension when Cameron meets Indonesian President Joko Widodo over Sandiford’s plight.

The gran has filed numerous appeals, has complained of struggling to fund her legal defense, and has voiced her fear after the Bali Nine Australians were executed that she could be next.

Cameron will reportedly be in the country for four days before he’s off to Singapore, Vietnam, and Malaysia.
