British man killed from 2 meter fall at Kuta hotel

A British national was reported dead after taking a fall from the second floor at the Mercure Kuta Bali hotel.

Robert Greer, 49, was taken to the morgue on Tuesday morning in Denpasar at Sanglah Hospital after falling on Monday around midnight, reports Tribun Bali

“Scans show the man was dead less than eight hours before his body was examined and a number of open wounds and bruises were found in several places on the victim,” said Head of Sanglah’s Forensics Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Alit.

“To find out the cause of death, we need to do an autopsy. But by observing the injuries, he suffered trauma to the face and neck,” which likely were the fatal injuries, Alit told Tribun.

An autopsy apparently cannot be done until approval is received from Greer’s family and the British consulate.

Contacted separately by Tribun, Kuta Police Chief Dedy Januarta explained that according to witness testimony, the victim has been outside his room, 250.

Greer, who was suspected of having a disease associated with dizziness and nausea, immediately dropped and fell down two meters, according to the witness.

Police say they are continuing to investigate the incident.
