UPDATE Brimob officer attacked at Bali resort: Assailant, AK 101 rifle still at large
A member of Bali Police’s elite Mobile Brigade (Brimob) unit was allegedly assaulted in the parking lot of a resort in South Bali on Tuesday.
The allegation is still under investigation and has not yet been confirmed by Bali Brimob nor any other Bali Police directorate.
Head Bali Police spokesman, Superintendent Heng Widjaja said he was aware of the alleged situation, but couldn’t say anything more.
“We are still cross-checking, related to this information. Whether it’s true or a hoax, we cannot comment further.”
“We are still investigating,” Bali Police Brimob Superintendent Laksana told Tribun Bali.
South Kuta Police Chief Nyoman Latra told Bali Post the same thing: “It’s still under investigation.”
Information has been circulating amongst local media that the incident happened around 11:20am earlier today in the parking lot of Jimbaran’s upscale Ayana Resort & Spa.
Coconuts Bali has contacted Ayana Resort & Spa about the developing story and is awaiting comment.
It’s alleged that Brimob Police Brigadier Ida Bagus Suda Suwarna was knocked out and his gun was seized by the perpetrator.
Suwarna was found by a security guard, sitting and unconscious with a number of cuts to his body, red eyes and blood vomited out, according to Bali Post.
The victim had apparently just been out to lunch around 11am at Rimba Hotel inside the Ayana Resort complex, where he had been on duty, guarding.
As of writing time, Bali Brimob was still conducting sweeps around the location.
