Bomb scare at Australian Consul-General home this weekend was a false alarm

A sketchy bag, believed to be a bomb in front of the home of the Australian Consul-General turned out to be harmless.

The bag showed up on Saturday, 100 meters from Australian Consul-General Majell Hind’s residence in Sanur around 11 am, but turned out just to be a bag left by a cleaner, reports the Sydney Morning Herald

When locals saw the suspicious bag, they called police, who had the bomb squad blow it up, the SOP for mysterious packages of this nature.

“But it was just a bag left by a worker,” said Denpasar police chief Anak Agung Made Sudana, as quoted by SMH.

“He was cleaning an aquarium. We found nothing relating to a bomb. Just stuff to clean aquariums – a small aquarium water pump and a couple of drivers’ licenses.”

Phew, that’s a relief.
