Body of police officer found in front of North Bali Mini Mart

Nyoman Rena Sanjaya was doing some convenience store shopping yesterday afternoon at the local Mini Mart in Lovina, northern Bali, when he suddenly came across a figure laying down on the front step.

Upon closer inspection, the figure turned out to be the body of a uniformed police officer. Sanjaya says he was shocked to see the body laying face down clutching a white shopping bag and cell phone. Sanjaya says he tried to pat the body a few times, but it remained motionless, reports Tribun Bali. Not far from the body, black shoes were reportedly found.

“I was surprised at the time,” and the body did not appear to be breathing, Sanjaya told Tribun. From there,  he says he immediately phoned the police.

Police examination revealed that the fallen officer was 56-year-old Aiptu I Nyoman Arya Arcana, a resident of Singaraja, who works in Celukan Bawang. Aracana’s body was reportedly taken to Buleleng Hospital for autopsy analysis.

Tragically, Arcana’s wife had no idea that her husband was dead and says she received the news of his death just shortly after he had called her.

Reports have yet to mention the cause of Arcana’s death, but it does not seem like there was foul play.
