An 11-year-old boy who “mysteriously disappeared” on Monday in Bali’s Badung regency was found dead and floating down a river yesterday evening.
Police have confirmed the discovery, saying that the boy’s decomposing body was found by a local resident in Mengwi district.
“The body was found floating with his face down … The body was already decomposing,” Ketut Gede Oka Bawa, spokesman at the Badung Police, said.
The victim, identified as IMDH, was reported missing on Monday, shortly after going fishing with his friends at a location not too far from his house.
According to reports, IMDH was already on his way home when he suddenly ran toward a nearby field. His grandmother, who saw him at this time, proceeded to run after him. However, the boy disappeared from sight and was then declared missing, with police previously describing the incident as “mysterious.”
This morning, police said that the deceased is at Sanglah General Hospital for a further examination, though authorities have yet to find any signs of foul play.
