Bird smuggling operation between Bali and Java clipped in Gilimanuk

A total of 35 canaries being smuggled illegally were intercepted on Wednesday by police officers at the port city of Gilimanuk, Bali.

The birds were hidden in two cardboard boxes and glass beverage containers on a pickup truck driven by Suwandi, 44, reports Tribun Bali

Based on police’s questioning of Suwandi, the birds were taken from Malang by bus to Banyuwangi, then were meant to go to Denpasar then Tabanan with Moyo Budiono, 33.

Police confiscated the birds because Suwandi did not have official documentation.
