If traveling via budget international flights doesn’t make you uneasy, then good news, Indonesian low-cost carrier Batik Air is adding flights to Australia.
The airline has got ahold of its air operating certification from Australia’s Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) on Nov. 25, according to a press release.
Batik will apparently be the second airline from the Lion Air group to spread its wings to Oz, as Malindo already has a flight from KL to Perth.
Batik is looking to launch its Australia flight very soon—as soon as December 2016 or January 2017, says Lion Air Group President Edward Sirait.
The airline hopes to get Sydney and Melbourne as destinations in the future, but is moving forward with a Perth flight to start, Sirait says.
Speaking on the airline’s progress, as of last June, Batik and Lion were no longer blocked by the European Commission, Sirait added. So there’s that for reassurance.
Batik Air’s fleet is currently made up of 37 aircraft, servicing 200 flights per day, but the airline will get four new Airbus 320’s by the end of the year, a press release said.
