The amount of people in Bali living below the poverty line reportedly went up over the course of last year.
Living below the line in September 2014 were 195,950 people, while that number in March 2014 had been reported at 185,2000 (4.53 percent), according to the Bali Times.
Even though Bali’s poor are increasing, it still has the second least amount of poor people in Indonesia after Jakarta, said Panasunan Siregar, Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) in Bali, as quoted by the Bali Times. On the bright side. Though we imagine this statistic to be per capita and not a raw number, but this was left unclarified in reports.
However, knowing that Bali’s only got the second least amount of poor people in the country doesn’t exactly make us feel any better about the people in Bali who are living under the poverty line.
