Bali’s premium relatively high at IDR7,000 because of tax

Here’s another example of how you got to be willing to pay the price if you want to live in Bali.

The price of premium fuel in Bali reached IDR7,000 per liter despite the central government’s fuel price cut to IDR6,600 that reportedly went into effect today.

“The price of premium fuel in Bali amounts to IDR7,000 per liter since the relevant parties have not revised the amount of the Motor Vehicle Fuel Tax (PBBKB) by 10 percent,” said Iwan Yudha, the marketing manager of Bali-Nusa Tenggara Bara PT Pertamina, as quoted by Antara.

Snooze. If Yudha lost you there, just know that Bali’s getting hit harder with the tax on fuel that’s reaching 10 percent, while other regions in Indonesia just have to pay five percent.

To sort this out, Bali’s executive and legislative branches are apparently working on revising PBBKB’s percentage, attempting to bring it down to five percent. Oh dear, we sure hope so.
