Starting today, Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport has begun to offer the GeNose coronavirus breathalyzer test to domestic passengers, offering air travelers a relatively cheaper and faster option to meet current travel requirements in Indonesia.
Since April 1, Indonesia’s COVID-19 Task Force added the option for travelers to take a GeNose COVID-19 test at the airport, harbor, or terminals before their departure, a negative result of which is a requirement to continue their journey. The breathalyzer test is an alternative to either obtaining a negative result from a PCR test or an antigen rapid test.

While the new regulation applies nationally, only four airports were initially ready to facilitate the GeNose test service, namely Yogyakarta International Airport, Surabaya’s Juanda International Airport, Bandung’s Husein Sastranegara International Airport, and Palembang’s Sultan Mahmud Badaruddin II International Aiport.
Ngurah Rai today joins the list, allowing passengers from Bali to take the GeNose test to fly to other parts of the country. The service is open between 9am and 7pm, and will cost you IDR40,000 (US$2.74).
In comparison, an antigen rapid test costs about IDR250K (US$17.13), while a PCR test costs around IDR900K (US$61.66).
