Bali’s governor is talking about banning old cars

If you’re driving around an old clunker, you may have to trade in for a newer model soon.

Bali governor Made Mangku Pastika is open to putting a ban on cars driving around in Bali that are older than 10-15 years.

He’s looking at this as an option because of Bali’s markedly increased vehicle ownership, reports Kompas

But before people start sending their old cars for spare parts, wait up, because we seem to just be in the early phases at the moment. Now that studies are finished from Udayana and Warmadewa universities, Pastika says that regulation could get running in 2016.

He also added that old cars would be evaluated for their conditions before being chucked out.

But largely, Pastika says he hopes Balinese will use new cars.
