Artisans in Singaraja, North Bali are apparently getting their fair share of orders for their elaborately carved wooden doors.
The beautiful doors are requested especially by business owners of hotels and villas in Bali.
“They favor the motif that has a high aesthetic value that is beautiful to the eye,” Nyoman Kusuma, a door salesman told Antara on Thursday.
No kidding, these things are super aesthetically pleasing.
Kusuma says his shop gets between 10 to 15 orders a month for doors in various sizes and patterns—as there’s the design possiblities are endless!
The price tags on these doors aren’t cheap: they range from Rp 3.5 to 15 million, according to Kusuma, because “they come from quality materials and require high precision and power of skill to create such works of art.”
Teak, merbau (the most powerful), camphor, and pine are the most commonly used types of wood for these doors, that will take the artisans between one to two months to complete.
