A bomb and gun assault led by Islamic militants in central Jakarta has understandably captured the attention of Bali law enforcement.
“Indeed, at the moment there is not yet a command to go on alert, but we are increasing vigilance,” Bali Police Chief Inspector General Sugeng Priyanto said on Thursday afternoon, as quoted by Okezone.
Bali’s highest ranking police official added that we should remain calm and there have been no signs of anything suspicious.
Priyanto continued that there had already been some indication that an attack for Jakarta was planned by terrorists before the New Year, and now it’s blatant the terrorists have only intensified their plans.
“The terrorists did not say exactly where the target would be. But clearly, they said a gathering place for foreigners. Foreigners gathering not only in Bali, but also in Yogyakarta, Jakarta, and other major cities,” he concluded.
