Bali United embarrassed with 1-3 loss in opening match of Bali Island Cup

Thursday was a tough day for the home team at I Captain Wayan Dipta Stadium in Gianyar.

Bali United lost the very first match 1-3 against the highly-ranked East Java Arema Cronus, as they opened the Bali Island Cup.

Based on a game review by sepakbola.com, veteran Coach Indra Sjafri apparently seemed to be favoring his young players as he lowered the number of senior footballers on the field throughout the match.

Better luck to Sjafri and the Bali squad next time. We’re sure the coach’s spirits won’t be down too long because ever since he signed with Bali United in December 2014, he’s emphasized that the team is still improving and he’s trying develop young talent. He’s a semangat one.

Arema’s victory puts them at the top of the current standings, with Persib Bandung beating PSS Sleman on the other end of the bracket. Arema will face PSS Sleman on Sunday (Feb. 21), while Bali United will try their luck with Persib Bandung.
