After a series of emails were released last week from the victim of the Bali suitcase murder, the defense team is firing back.
Chicago socialite Sheila von Wiese-Mack was found murdered, stuffed into a suitcase at the elite Bali St. Regis resort in August 2014. Her teenage daughter Heather Mack, 19, and boyfriend Tommy Schaefer, 21, are the main suspects and are currently being tried separately for premeditated murder, a crime that carries the death penalty in Indonesia.
Emails published by the press last week demonstrating von Wiese-Mack’s troubled relationship with Mack indicate Mack had put her mother through quite a lot.
But now, Mack’s civil attorney Anthony Scifo is saying not so fast, that the selection of emails released is one-sided and he even alleged that von Wiese-Mack wanted her daughter to get an abortion, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Mack gave birth to baby Stella, Schaefer’s child, last week.
Scifo allegedly said that von Wise-Mack wanted Mack to abort the baby before their trip to Bali and even wanted her daughter defer control of her medical and personal affairs to her.
Scifo also alleged that von Wiese-Mack “forced” Mack into two previous abortions and was working on getting her to have her third, according to the Chicago Tribune.
Mack’s attorney reportedly made these abortion comments in Cook County, Chicago when he was addressing Mack’s $1.56 million trust fund.
