The American teen accused of helping to kill her mother and stuff her in a suitcase is reportedly back at the hospital with her sick newborn baby.
Heather Mack went to Sanglah Hospital with baby Stella on Friday in Denpasar after the baby’s condition did not improve from a previous sickness, according to the Daily Mail.
Mack, 19, has been keeping her baby in her crowded Kerobokan Prison cell and apparently doctors were judging her on a lack of motherly attention to her baby because of her baby’s dirty condition.
“The mother appears not to have been washing her properly, if at all,” said an anonymous source that the Daily Mail quoted.
“The baby’s high fever is more of a concern than the jaundice.”
Reports say the area around where the baby’s umbilical cord was cut may be infected.
Not that it’s easy to keep a baby clean in an overcrowded prison, but this is exactly why some think Mack should give up the baby to offer her a better life, including her boyfriend’s mother, who is allegedly pressuring Mack to get baby Stella out of Kerobokan Prison.
Mack and her baby’s daddy/boyfriend Tommy Schaefer are both facing trial in Bali for premeditated murder of Mack’s mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack in August 2014. Schaefer has already testified that he killed von Wiese-Mack out of self defense, alleging that the 60-year-old woman was choking him and threatening his baby (who had not yet been born at the time).
After sending in a doctor’s note explaining their baby’s health condition, their trials have been adjourned until March 31, reports the AP.
