Bali Suitcase Murder: Mack blames it on her ‘baby daddy’

The pregnant Chicago teen accused of killing her mother last August at the St. Regis in Bali has reportedly testified that her boyfriend was responsible for the murder.

Heather Mack, 19, told the court that her boyfriend, 21-year-old Tommy Schaefer, killed Mack’s mother, Chicago socialite Sheila von Wiese-Mack after she threatened to kill their unborn baby, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Von Wiese-Mack’s bloody body was found stuffed in a suitcase that the couple allegedly abandoned as they fled the scene of the crime.

The couple is being tried separately in Denpasar court for premeditated murder, which in Indonesia carries the maximum penalty of death–which also makes us wonder if that’s reason enough for Schaefer to take the fall to save Mack and their baby.

Mack, who was examined for the first time in trial yesterday, reportedly said it was Scahefer who beat her mother with a metal bowl after von Wiese-Mack threatened their baby and objected to their relationship.

“The blow was not so hard … and my mother was still resisting,” she said. “I asked Tommy to stop and then I ran into the bathroom,” as quoted by the Chicago Tribune.

When she returned from the bathroom, Mack claims that Schaefer was on the bed, trying to revive her mother.

“We panicked and didn’t know what to do,” she said, reportedly explaining that the couple thought about calling the police or bringing the body in a suitcase to the U.S. Consulate. But of course reports say she did not explain why they did not go through with either action (because they don’t make any sense).

It was also just announced by Mack’s Chicago-based attorney that the teen may give birth via C-Section as soon as Friday, according to NBC Chicago.
