The newborn baby of the couple accused of committing the Bali Suitcase Murder was reportedly rushed from Kerobokan Prison to a clinic today.
After less than one week after her moving into the “Hotel K”, baby Stella’s skin was turning yellow and she had a high fever when she was in her mom’s Bali prison cell that is shared with eight other prisoners, according to the Daily Mail.
Teen mom Heather Mack also reportedly requested that Stella’s father Tommy Schaefer be present at the clinic, which was apparently allowed. Stella will reportedly be kept in the the clinic under observation while Mack must return to her cell, but if Stella’s condition does not get better within 48 hours, she will be sent to the hospital.
Mack and Schaefer were arrested in August 2014 for the murder of Mack’s mother, Sheila von Wiese-Mack, whose bloody body had been found stuffed into a suitcase at the elite St. Regis resort in Bali.
While Mack is permitted to keep her baby in her prison cell for up to two years, there are definitely some concerns being voiced about her child’s safety. For one, Mack was apparently warned that even though her cell mates happily greeted the baby, they could lash out if they are often kept awake by the infant’s cries.
“Keeping the baby in a humid, unclean cell, where prisoners sleep on the floor, is hardly the place for a newborn baby,” said a Bali resident who visits the jail regularly, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
Mack and Schaefer were due in court today to continue their murder trials, but go their cases adjourned until next week because of their baby’s health problems.
