Bali Suitcase Murder: alleged killer Heather Mack can’t use trust fund for unborn baby

Alleged American murderer Heather Mack has reportedly been denied use of her trust fund for her unborn baby.

Mack is on trial with her baby’s daddy Tommy Schaefer. The pair infamously made headlines in August 2014 for allegedly killing Mack’s mother, Chicago socialite Sheila von Wiese-Mack at the posh Bali St. Regis resort. Dubbed the “Bali suitcase murder,” Von Wiese-Mack’s body was found stuffed into a suitcase.

Now the couple is on trial in Bali for premeditated murder (which could land them the death penalty).

Mack has been involved in a lengthy legal battle over the trust fund her mother set up for her. After some discrepancies with her uncle (her dead mother’s brother), Mack sued and was eventually awarded funds to pay for her legal defense.

But now, after trying to take money from the USD1.56 million trust fund for her unborn baby, Mack has been told by Cook County Judge Neil Cohen that the money does not provide for payment for the child’s medical and legal fees, reports the Chicago Tribune.

For example, the USD15,000 estimated cost for the baby’s expected April delivery will not be covered for Mack.

“The trust doesn’t deal with anyone except Heather, as long as she’s alive,” Cohen said, as quoted by the Chicago Tribune. “I can’t rewrite something that’s been written.”
